0% tax on retained earnings

As of 2009, new amendments to the Profit Tax Law have been made, keeping the main principle of the law unchanged, with only the distributed part of profits being taxed. The Macedonian corporate tax rate on gross distributed profits remains 10%.

Access to 650 million customer base

Macedonia is a signatory of three multilateral Free Trade Agreements:

- SAA (Stabilization and Association Agreement) with the EU member-states;
- EFTA (Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein), and
- CEFTA (Macedonia, Albania, Moldova, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo).

Bilateral Free Trade Agreements are signed with Turkey and the Ukraine.


Foreign entities can directly buy/lease land    

Foreign companies and foreign citizens can directly own construction land in Macedonia, according to the newly adopted Law on Construction Land (Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia No. 82/08 from 08.07.2008).

Construction land is alienated through a public tender procedure. Minimum bidding prices are set by the Ministry of Transport and Communications in compliance with the Construction Land Price Determination Methodology.
